WE ARE MOVING!

WE ARE MOVING!

You may have heard that we are moving. We've been talking about the move for sometime. Our intention of going into the space beside the current tea shop was in the works.... until it wasn't. Unrealistic quotes of $750,000 to 1 million dollar price tags to give us the space we needed made us throw up, A LOT. So we paired back our business (in our heads) to make the four walls that existed over there work for the business. But truth was, that space was too small to begin with and I knew it. Just like I knew the current space we are in was too small ten years ago. I just justified that I would just find a way to make it work. And then something magical happened.

I was walking down the street and popped into see the owner of McWalker Yarns. After catching up for a few minutes, she said, "I have news. I'm closing"

My immediate reaction was, "Oh Amy. I wish we would have talked. Maybe we could have combined and been a tea and yarn shop." and then I said, "Maybe I should buy your shop and make a tea and yarn shop" to which Amy replied, "Danielle. Don't buy a yarn store to feed your yarn habit. Drive for that. However, you should put your tea store here."

I laughed at first and then I asked some questions. All the answers were good answers. I texted the landlords, who I know and they were thrilled I was interested.

I've spent quite a bit of time over the past two months working out how we can do this. What we will look like in a space like this, etc. and I'm both pumped and terrified. We are moving from a 6-800 square foot space into a space that is 2000 square feet with a full, dry basement for storage! I'm really excited to spread my wings and do everything I've wanted to do and more.

We will remain a place to get bags of tea and gift items as well as cups and food. We plan to expand this part of the business. We will have seating again so expect to come, work, meet up and hang! We are working on some afternoon tea ideas. Need space to hold a meeting? Reach out. We can host small gatherings! We will have classes and community events and FUN! It truly is a dream come true.

Soon we will be sending out surveys to see what you want to see. We'd like to try some night hours to give people a sober place to go (Peach Pit After Dark anyone?!?!). We are also looking to bring in people who want to teach crafts, tea related things, etc.

Being GenX I miss my paper and pen so we are going to have stationary and letter writing stuff for people to come and send good ole fashioned snail mail.

We are hosting Amy's established stitch groups and would love to host more things like that. We literally want to be a COMMUNITY TEA SHOP in the broadest sense of the word..... book clubs, stitch nights, game nights, international food pot lucks, etc.

What I'm terrified about is that what I dream to bring to fruition is something that is only what I want to see. That I won't be able to reach the people who will come out and support us. It's hard when business is slow to think about building bigger and more, but I honestly feel like this is what the world needs..... COMMUNITY. My BFF said, "If you build it, they will come" and I'm hoping I'm not the only one who is wishing for a space like this.

xo,
Danielle
