Winter Oolong

Winter Oolong was created as part of our seasonal oolong line.

A dark oolong (70% oxidized), blended with peppermint, dandelion, chicory, and sweet cinnamon, this sweet, malty, minty tea is perfect for taking on those cold winter days.

STORY BEHIND THE TEA:  We used to service a coffee shop here in Pittsburgh. A very famous one that isn't here any more. One of the things we love is when customers challenge us outside of our normal think tank. This coffee shop did just that. They asked for seasonal oolongs. We had never considered doing something like that. We created ones for them and then did a different recipe for ourselves. We decided the colder months should have a dark oolong as the base. We wanted a blend that leaned into the minty flavors of the season but also had a really nice anchor of flavors. That's where the chicory and dandelion came in. In addition using sweet cinnamon versus the typical cinnamon in fall blends brings a floral note to the blend. 

Ingredients: dark oolong, organically grown peppermint, organically grown roasted dandelion root, organically grown sweet cinnamon, organically grown chicory root.

Steep Temperature: 195°F

Steep Time: 2-4 minutes

All of our teas are made with high-quality ingredients and are intended to be steeped for a second cup of tea. However, Oolong teas can be steeped more times, if you wish to do a more traditional tasting.

Steep first steep approximately 1 minute and 30 seconds-2 minutes

Each additional steep, do approximately 30 seconds until the leaves have no flavor left. Usually 5-8 times.
