These Times They Are A Changin'

We wanted to let you know about some changes that are coming to our business and how you can help us shape the future of AVTeaCo.

Late in 2024 we were informed one of our main suppliers was taking a pause until the end of Q1 2025. However, after the discussion of tariffs, they decided to just retire. As such, some of the staples you all love in our store are teas we can no longer get in. We are still a small tea shop that purchases from importers who work directly with tea gardens. We do not have the space or capital to buy direct, nor do we have the network, yet, to sell that much tea.

We've always prided ourselves with the way we source teas. We have a wide net of wholesalers we work with to procure teas. In doing so, we can bring in teas through their varied connections across the globe. It is certainly a more expensive way of doing business because we lose out on bulk discounts and shipping, but we have ALWAYS believed that the variety is what sets us apart.

The global market is changing rapidly and we are feeling that here at home. Some of our most favorite teas are gone and we have no additional sources to bring those in. Instead of spending time being angry and frustrated, we've decided to spin the narrative into something positive..... and that is where you come in.

Because we are rebuilding our tea menu, we have the opportunity to get in teas that maybe you haven't been able to find here before!

We also want our customers to understand that the tea plant changes each year. Each crop is different and varied. Some of the staples we carried were teas that were homogenized into a consistent product. We've become accustomed to this style of consistency instead of viewing the leaf for what it is, a plant that changes year to year based upon many factors. Both will still exist here at AVTeaCo, however, we wish to lean more into the uniqueness of the tea based upon growing conditions. This means we may only have limited amounts of certain teas, when we do get them in.

Our blends will continue to be available as the herbal market seems to be ok at this moment. For the majority of our blends, we have found camellia sinensis replacements that work well. There may be an odd one or two, down the road, that is affected by this but we haven't run into one yet.
